Upgrade your 996 Turbo’s factory brakes or replace worn-out rotors with premium GiroDisc brake rotors. These are perfect for track use and offer a cost-effective premium brake replacement solution compared to PCCB (Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes).
The central hat section of each rotor is made from U.S.-sourced 6061-T6 aircraft specification aluminum. The disc is made from proprietary cast iron, poured in the USA and machined entirely in-house at GiroDisc. The rotor features a curved vane design, developed in racing to function as a centrifugal pump, forcing cooling air through the disc. The larger rotors act as greater heat sinks, resulting in increased performance on the track, a reduction in brake fade, and improved brake component life.
The rotor and hat incorporate a floating mount system, utilizing 8 or 10 high-strength alloy steel drive pins manufactured by GiroDisc in the USA to their own specifications and cadmium plated for long-lasting corrosion resistance. These pins handle the load from braking while maintaining axial and radial float between the hat and disc. The pins are secured by grade 12 cap screws with hardened washers. To prevent cold-weather rotor noise, the pins are mounted with anti-noise spring washers on the rotor side, allowing for heat expansion while eliminating the rattle and noise associated with floating rotors. This float also enables the rotor to self-center between the pads.
