The central hat section of each GiroDisc rotor is precision-machined from strictly U.S.-sourced 6061-T6 aircraft-specification aluminum, ensuring exceptional strength and lightweight properties. The brake disc itself is crafted from proprietary cast iron, poured in the USA and meticulously machined in-house at GiroDisc from start to finish, guaranteeing the highest quality and precision.
GiroDisc rotors feature a race-proven curved vane design. This innovative design acts as a highly efficient centrifugal pump, actively forcing cooling air through the disc as it rotates. This enhanced cooling capability is crucial for track use, where larger GiroDisc rotors act as greater heat sinks, resulting in significantly increased braking performance, a substantial reduction in brake fade, and prolonged lifespan for all brake components.
Floating Mount System for Optimal Function:
The rotor and hat assembly utilize a sophisticated floating mount system. This system employs either 8 or 10 high-strength alloy steel drive pins, exclusively manufactured by GiroDisc in the USA to their exacting specifications and finished with cadmium plating for long-lasting corrosion resistance. These drive pins expertly handle the stresses generated during braking, while simultaneously allowing for essential axial and radial float between the aluminum hat and the cast iron disc. The pins are securely fastened using grade 12 cap screws with hardened washers.
To eliminate the common issue of noise associated with floating rotors when cold, GiroDisc incorporates anti-noise spring washers on the rotor side of the pins. These ingenious washers allow the rotor to expand naturally with heat buildup during braking, effectively preventing any rattling or unwanted noise. This floating design also enables the rotor to self-center precisely between the brake pads, ensuring consistent and even wear.
Cost-Effective and Track-Ready:
